A Los Angeles Native, Richard Montes graduated from Cal State University, Long Beach with a Bachelors in Film and Electronic Arts, then earning his Masters in Fine Arts at Chapman University.
Co-founding SAFADA Y SANO PRODUCTIONS with Partner Jessica Martinez in 2002, Richard went on to direct, write and produce PASS THE MIC!, a Latinos in Hip Hop Documentary that was honored by the American Film Institute in 2005. Pass The Mic!, distributed by Image Entertainment, has recieved outstanding reviews from some of the top music and film publications.
Richard Montes has written/directed/edited/produced several film festival shorts as well as a number of Music Videos. He has also written for several hip-hop publications. Currently, he and Jessica Martinez are writing a feature length screenplay, that will go into production at year's end. Richard is also finishing up his first novel.
